The statue shows  Dr. João de Barros, Pedagogue of the first Portuguese Republic, exerted in political positions in the area of education. Promoter of republican education which, adapted classical works for the reading of children and for the people in general.

This project was spontaneously supported by several teachers as school until now had no - neither painting nor sculpture portrait of its founder.

My special thanks belongs to Sr. Herminia Domingues, which supported me and this project from the beginning of my work.

The statue was celebratory unveiled of on the occasion of 30 anniversary of the Secondary school of  João de Barros in Corroios in Portugal.
