This sculpture portrait represents Dr. João de Barros, pedagogue of the first Portuguese Republic, politically engaged in education sector. He was a promoter of republican education as well, as has adapted classical literature for the children's and general public needs.

     All project was spontaneously supported by several teachers from the Secondary school of João de Barros in Corroios in Portugal, as their school until this time still didn't have any portrait of its founder.

      My special thanks belongs to Sr. Herminia Domingues, my dear Portuguese teacher and great friend, which was fully supporting me all the time during this project from the beginning till the end. 

      The statue was officially presented and unveiled during the Celebration of the 30th anniversary of the school, in pleasant atmosphere with the supporting participation of the director, teaching staff, and a lot of students.
