Carrara, Italy, 2011 🇮🇹🍝🤌 ⛰️🏔️🏞️🧗♂️🚵♂️🧗🌊🚛🚚🌫️
One of the best experiences for me was definitely a stage in Italian Carrara - city surrounded by the white peaks of Alps, with incredible artistic history and beautiful nature, the world centre of cutting, processing and carving marble.
Mystical place with magical energy, where the renaissance master and genius Michelangelo was carving his unforgettable and absolutely unique divine sculptures.
Here I have met for a first time in my life with carraran marble - very special and unique stone, which accumulates all the positive features for an amazing sculptural material.
It's durable, strong and compact, while also fragile, pure, beautifully white and transparent. This rare and contradictory combination of natural virtues I didn’t find in any other sculptural material. That’s why I will always
be fascinated by it.
The portrait of "Veronička" - the little girl from my neighbourhood in Slovakia, was my first ever experience with carving the stone. I was working based on the plaster model of her and measuring a lot with the pointing machine at the beginning. The work was always more fascinating as the face was starting to appear in the stone, it was always something new to discover
around the specific features of marble, every part of work was so different but super interesting and inspiring. It was one of my top experiences in art which I wish to continue.
