This international competition of portrait sculpture was organized by the Sculpture Association of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia - academic Czech sculpture association. The main goal of the competition was to revitalize, develop and maintain the tradition of the figurative and portrait sculpture in Czech Republic, motivate figurative sculptors to continue their creation and finally gain the best sculpture portraits of the 3 famous Czech personalities - ex-president Václav Havel, scientist Jan Hollý and architect Jan Kaplický.

I have decided to make a portrait of Jan Kaplický, which was awarded by the Prize of the jury of the Sculpture Association of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.
